The Portsmouth Wind Symphony

Our concerts are performed by an accomplished ensemble of fifty local and regional musicians and are entertaining for all ages.

Our outstanding musicians, many of whom are your neighbors, friends, and teachers, are joined by accomplished soloists and guest performers from the tri-state area.

The PWS Board continues to work hard to bring to Southern Ohio a quality performing organization. We strive to present family-friendly concerts at an affordable ticket price.

Music from Around the World

Join us for a fun world tour as we present Music from Around the World. We will explore different composers and styles of music from Europe, south of the Equator, the Far East and lands beyond. You will be amazed when you hear some of the talented soloists we have within the PWS, and we are sure to entertain you as we "circle the globe" in search of the finest music ever written.

Christmas Celebration

You are invited to celebrate the Christmas season with our annual Christmas Celebration. A veritable cornucopia of holiday favorites both sacred and secular will highlight out program. Singing, playing and dancing our way through Christmas and into the New Year will put everyone in the mood to celebrate!

All Things Trombone

We are going to "slide into spring" as we feature All Things Trombone for our spring-time concert. We will highlight the members of the PWS trombone section in a fun and raucous romp through the history of the trombone. A special guest trombone soloist will join us for this concert as we try and control the "clowns of the band"!

Salute to America

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 @ 7:00 pm

We will wrap up the 2016-17 season with our Salute to America concert in Tracy Park in Portsmouth. Along with our friend Steve Free and his band we will feature American music as be celebrate our freedom and liberty as the greatest nation on earth.

There are benefits to subscribing early to our concerts by returning the ticket order form with no need to call or visit the box office.

Advance Ticketing

Receive your tickets in advance to all events. Tickets are mailed to you without having to wait in line at the box office.

Easy Exchange

For tickets you cannot use, we will be glad to exchange your tickets for another concert or provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for any tickets you cannot use. Simply call the box office at (740) 351-3600 at least 24 hours before the concert.

Subscription orders received before October 7 will be mailed to the address provided on the order form. After October 7, tickets will be available at the McKinley Box Office Will Call. The McKinley Box Office is located in the lobby of Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts. Ten-minute parking is available in the fountain circle area.

The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts is fully handicapped accessible. Seating for wheelchairs and hearing assisting devices are available. Please indicate your need for assistance when ordering your tickets.

Please consider a tax-deductible donation to The Portsmouth Wind Symphony. Ticket sales account for only 50% of the revenue needed to fund the season. The following are suggested categories:
